Tim Tebow News
University of Florida QB Tim Tebow claims to have received hundreds of threatening cell phone messages prior to last Saturday's game.
Tim Tebow said there were physical threats that involved some very "vulgar" language.
"I really don't use that type of language too much," said Tim Tebow, declining to reveal any of the messages. "Some people did take it too far, farther than they should in sports, but I think, for the most part, it was just people having fun."
Tim Tebow said that the number of messages started to increase as the game approached, but he eventually turned his phone off.
He had to listen to each voicemail and read each text message before deleting them.
There were also reports from Baton Rouge that fans were walking around Saturday with Tim Tebow's number printed on their shirts.
"It's absolutely insane," Tim Tebow's father, Bob, said. "It's egregious. Messages were pouring in. He wouldn't reveal all of the stuff to me, but he told his brothers and they told me some of them."
After a two-yard TD pass to Kestahn Moore to make it 10-0, Tim Tebow pretended to whip out a cell phone and dial numbers on it. He then put then "phone" up to his ear and stared into the stands at Tiger Stadium.
"They were having fun with me, so I was having fun with them too. It's what college football is all about."
Urban Meyer said the situation concerned him, so he gave Tim Tebow a quick and easy tip to resolve it.
Tebow got a new number on Monday.
